Evelant User Manual

Evelant helps you chat with AI directly on the page you're reading, and from a full web dashboard. This guide walks through the full flow — from installing the extension to using the features that go beyond a normal chat.

1. What You Need Before Starting

  • A Chromium-based browser (Google Chrome recommended).
  • An Evelant account.
  • A stable internet connection.

2. Install the Extension

  1. Open the Evelant landing page.
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. Approve the browser permission dialog.
  4. Pin the Evelant extension from the browser toolbar for faster access.

3. Create Your Account

  1. Open the Evelant website.
  2. Click Get Started or Create your free account, or sign in with Google.
  3. Complete registration and verify your email if asked to.

4. Connect the Extension

Once you're signed in on the web, the extension recognizes your account automatically the next time you open it — there's no token to copy or paste anywhere. If the extension still shows you as signed out after creating your account, refresh the current tab once.

5. Start Using Evelant on Any Website

  1. Open a page you want to read or analyze.
  2. Click the Evelant orb that appears on the page (or open the side panel).
  3. Type a question, for example:
    • "Summarize this page in 5 bullet points"
    • "Explain this section in simpler language"
    • "Translate this article to Indonesian"
  4. Send it and wait for the response.

6. Useful Prompt Patterns

  • Summary: "Give me an executive summary of this page."
  • Action points: "List the top 5 takeaways and what to do next."
  • Learning mode: "Teach this topic like I am a beginner."
  • Comparison: "Compare the main arguments in a pros/cons table."
  • Extraction: "Extract all important dates, names, and numbers."
  • A file instead of text: "Turn this into a slide deck" or "put this in a spreadsheet" — Evelant builds and hands you back a real downloadable file. See Code Sandbox & File Generation in the docs.
  • A picture: open the composer's "+" menu and choose Generate image to describe a picture instead of asking a question.

7. Slash Commands

Type / in the chat input to see quick shortcuts for common requests:

Notes:

  • Shortcut behavior can vary depending on the page's own focus state.
  • If a shortcut doesn't respond, click the page once and try again.
  • Your browser may let you remap most of these under its own extension-shortcuts settings.

9. Beyond a Single Chat

Evelant does more than answer one question at a time:

  • Projects — group related chats under shared instructions and a knowledge base of your own uploaded files, so you don't re-explain context every time. Click Projects in the sidebar to get started.
  • Shared Rooms (paid plans, to create) — invite people into a live conversation where everyone sees the same answers arrive at once.
  • Multi-tab sessions — keep a separate conversation per tab, or combine several tabs into one shared context.
  • Structured Data Extraction — pull an entire table or list off a page as real rows you can download, from the side panel's toolbar.
  • Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) — connect your own API key for a provider under Settings if you want to use your own billing for that provider's models.
  • Site-Specific Instructions — under Settings → Site Rules, set a note, a pinned model, or turn Evelant off entirely for one specific website.

10. Use the Web Dashboard

From the web app you can also:

  • Browse and search your full chat history, organized by Pinned, Projects, and regular Chats.
  • Manage Projects, Site Rules, and your personalization/appearance settings.
  • Connect a provider API key under BYOK, or check your plan's usage and credits.
  • Contact support through the dashboard's contact page.

11. Troubleshooting

Extension not responding

  • Refresh the tab.
  • Turn the extension off and back on from your browser's extensions page.
  • Make sure you're still signed in on the web app.

Cannot send a message

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Confirm you're signed in.
  • Try a different site to see whether the issue is specific to one page.

Signed out unexpectedly

  • Sign back in on the web app, then refresh the tab you're working in.
  • If it keeps happening on one specific site, check whether a Site Rule set that site to "Never show."

12. Privacy & Safety Notes

  • Do not paste passwords, banking details, or confidential legal documents into prompts.
  • Always double-check AI answers before relying on them for important decisions.
  • Read the full Privacy Policy and Terms for the latest details on how your data is handled.

13. Quick Workflow Recap

  1. Install the extension.
  2. Create your account on the web.
  3. Open any page — you're already signed in.
  4. Ask a question, or try /find, image generation, or asking for a downloadable file.
  5. Group related work into a Project once you notice you're repeating yourself.
